Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Safran Aero Engine Services India in Hyderabad
  • The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated Safran Aero Engine Services India at GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park - Special Economic Zone at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, through video conferencing.
Cyclone Senyar

South Africa wins Test series against India after 25 years

Union Cabinet approves two multi-track railway projects covering 4 districts in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today approved two projects of the Ministry of Railways worth Rs. 2,781 crore.
  • Devbhoomi Dwarka (Okha) – Kanalus Double Lane – 141 km
  • Badlapur – Karjat 3rd and 4th Line – 32 km
  • This will improve the transport services in the area and increase the employment and self-employment opportunities of the people of the area. These two projects covering 4 districts in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat will increase the route network of Indian Railways by about 224 km. This will benefit about 32 lakh people living in 585 villages in the area.
  • The double lane from Kanalus to Okha will facilitate easy access for pilgrims to the Dwarkadish temple and will lead to overall development in the Saurashtra region.
  • The Badlapur – Karjat section is a part of the Mumbai Suburban Line. The 3rd and 4th Lines there will improve the traffic in the Mumbai Suburban area and also meet the future needs of the passengers. It will also provide connectivity to South India.
Union Cabinet approves Rs 7,280 crore scheme to promote production of densified rare earth permanent magnets
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today (26 November 2025) approved the ‘Scheme to Promote Production of Densified Rare Earth Permanent Magnets’ with an allocation of Rs 7280 crore. 
  • This first-of-its-kind initiative aims to establish an integrated Rare Earth Permanent Magnet (REPM) manufacturing facility of 6,000 MT per annum in India. This will enhance India’s self-reliance and position it as a major player in the global REPM market.
  • The total outlay of Rs 7280 crore for the scheme includes incentives of Rs 6,450 crore for REPM sales over five years and capital subsidy of Rs 750 crore for setting up REPM manufacturing plants with a capacity of 6,000 MT per annum.
  • The total duration of this scheme is 7 years from the date of approval. This includes a 2-year period for setting up an integrated REPM manufacturing facility and 5 years for providing incentives for REPM sales.
Union Cabinet approves Phase 2 of Pune Metro Rail Project
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today (26 November 2025) approved Route 4 (Kharadi-Hadapshur-Swargate-Kadagwasla) and Route 4A (Nal Stop-Varje-Manik Bhau) under Phase 2 of Pune Metro Rail Project.
  • The 31.636 km long route will connect IT hubs, commercial zones, educational institutions and residential areas across East, South and West Pune. The project will be completed within five years at an estimated cost of Rs. 9,857.85 crore. 
  • It will be jointly funded by the Central Government, the Government of Maharashtra and external bilateral/multilateral financing institutions. As per the projections, the daily ridership on Lines 4 and 4A is expected to increase to 4.09 lakh by 2028, around 7 lakh by 2038, 9.63 lakh by 2048 and over 11.7 lakh by 2058. 
  • Of this, the Karadi-Kadagwasla line will have 3.23 lakh riders in 2028, increasing to 9.33 lakh by 2058, while the Nal Stop-Warje-Manik Bagh Spur line will increase from 85,555 to 2.41 lakh during the same period. 
  • With this approval, the network of Pune Metro will expand beyond 100 km. This is a significant step forward in the city’s journey towards a modern, integrated and sustainable urban transport system.
