Tamil Nadu ranks 11th in the national unemployment rate
- The unemployment rate is one of the important indicators that weigh the economic development of each state. This unemployment rate is the percentage of people who are able and willing to work but are unable to find work.
- Like the rest of the country, this rate naturally increases and decreases every quarter in Tamil Nadu. This information is published four times a year based on the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) of the National Statistical Office (NSO).
- Accordingly, a new statistical report for the third quarter of July - September 2025 has been released. In this report, the unemployment rate of Tamil Nadu is mentioned as 5.7%. Tamil Nadu ranks 11th in the list of states with the lowest unemployment among Indian states.
- The state with the lowest unemployment rate in India is Gujarat. The rate there is just 2.2%. Karnataka is followed by it with a rate of 2.8%.
