India slips to 85th position in Henley Passport Index 2025
- The US-based Henley Passport Index is an international ranking of countries based on the travel freedom their passports grant their citizens. The Henley Passport Index is an official ranking of all passports in the world based on the number of destinations they can access without a prior visa.
- In this context, Henley Passport has released the international ranking list. In it, India's rank has slipped to 85th position. The fall reflects changes in global mobility patterns and diplomatic relations. Last year, India's passport was ranked 80th.
- This marks a decline from its previous ranking. India's economy may be booming, but its passport power is weakening. The decline has come despite India continuing to be one of the world's fastest-growing economies.
