Chief Minister M. K. Stalin orders to form a one-man inquiry commission headed by retired High Court judge Aruna Jagatheesan to investigate the Karur stampede
- 40 people, including 10 children and 16 women, died in a stampede at a campaign rally of Tamil Nadu Victory Party leader Vijay in Karur yesterday. While the incident has caused great shock throughout Tamil Nadu, leaders of various political parties are directly visiting Karur to offer their condolences to the affected people and condole with the deceased.
- Chief Minister Stalin personally visited the bodies of those who died in the stampede and paid his respects. The Tamil Nadu government has ordered to form a one-man inquiry commission headed by retired High Court judge Aruna Jagatheesan to investigate the incident.
- Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, who met the media last night, had also said that appropriate action will be taken as per the report given by the Aruna Jagatheesan Commission and that the inquiry commission will start the investigation soon.
