Tamil Nadu government signs MoU with Reliance to invest Rs. 1,156 crore in Thoothukudi SIPCOT
  • Reliance is setting up a food processing plant at Thoothukudi SIPCOT with an investment of Rs. 1,156 crore.
  • The MoU for this was signed on 24.09.2025 in the presence of Minister T.R.P. Raja. Reliance is an Indian multinational conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai.
  • Its businesses include energy, petrochemicals, natural gas, retail, entertainment, telecommunications, mass media and textiles. Reliance, India's largest public company, is the 86th largest company in the world. Such a company has currently invested in Tamil Nadu.
Union Cabinet approves 78 days of Production Linked Bonus to Railway Employees
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved the payment of 78 days of Production Linked Bonus to Railway Employees in recognition of their excellent performance. For this, an amount of Rs. 1,865.68 crore will be given to 10,91,146 Railway Employees.
  • This amount is given to eligible Railway Employees every year before the Durga Puja and Dussehra holidays. Similarly, this year too, about 10.91 lakh non-gazetted employees will be given 78 days of salary. 
  • This amount is given to motivate and improve the performance of Railway Employees. A maximum of Rs. 17,951 is given to eligible Railway Employees. 
  • This amount is given to various categories of Railway Employees like Track Keepers, Drivers, Train Managers (Cards), Station Managers, Supervisors, Technicians, Technical Assistants, Ministry Employees and other Group “C” Employees.
Union Cabinet approves four key approaches to strengthen shipbuilding, maritime finance and indigenous capacity
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved a comprehensive plan worth Rs. 69,725 crore to strengthen India’s shipbuilding and maritime ecosystem. 
  • The four key approaches have been introduced to strengthen domestic capacity, enhance long-term financing, develop shipyards in new and existing areas, and expand technical capabilities.
  • Under this scheme, the Shipbuilding Finance Scheme has been extended up to March 31, 2036 with a corpus of Rs. 24,736 crore. The scheme aims to provide incentives to shipbuilding in India and includes a credit note for shipbreaking with an allocation of Rs. 4001 crore. A National Shipbuilding Authority will be set up to oversee all the initiatives.
  • The overall scheme is expected to generate about 30 lakh jobs and attract investments of about Rs. 4.5 lakh crore in the Indian maritime sector. Beyond the economic impact, this initiative will strengthen energy and food security and bring stability to key supply chains and maritime routes.
Union Cabinet approves doubling of Bakhtiarpur-Rajgir-Dilaiya railway line in Bihar at a cost of Rs. 2,192 crore
  • The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved doubling of Bakhtiarpur-Rajgir-Dilaiya railway line in Bihar at a cost of Rs. 2,192 crore.
  • Covering 4 districts in the state of Bihar, this project will add 104 km to the existing Indian Railway network.
  • The project will provide rail connectivity to important places like Rajgir (Shanti Stupa), Nalanda, Bhawapuri, and will attract pilgrims and tourists from across the country.
  • The project will connect two districts (Gaya and Nawada) that are aspiring to progress, covering about 1434 villages and 13.46 lakh people.
