Indigenously built anti-submarine warfare ship 'Andhrad' handed over to the Navy
- The shallow-water anti-submarine warfare ships (ASW-SWC) are being built by Kolkata-based 'Gordon Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers' (GRESE). The first of these ships, 'Arlana', was commissioned into the Indian Navy in June.
- The company handed over the second ship (Andhrad) to the Indian Navy on Saturday. The ships are named after the Andhrad island in the Lat Sattivu archipelago. At around 77 metres long, these ships are the largest Indian naval warships powered by a diesel engine-waterjet combination.
- The World Speed Skating Championship is underway in China. He had secured a bronze medal in the first senior men's 500m event at the World Speed Skating Championships by skating in 43.072 seconds.
- Anand Kumar, who performed well in the men's 1000m event, then won the gold by finishing first in one minute and 24 seconds (1:24.924). With this victory, Anand Kumar became the first Indian and Tamilian to win gold in the senior arena of the World Speed Skating Championships.
- It is noteworthy that Anand Kumar also created a record by winning a silver medal in the Junior Skating Championships held in 2021.
