Rs. 1,200 crore relief for Uttarakhand disaster
- Various parts of the state have been severely affected by cloudbursts, heavy rains, floods and landslides caused by the intense monsoon in Uttarakhand. In this context, Prime Minister Modi has visited the capital Dehradun today (September 11) to inspect the disaster-affected areas.
- At that time, he announced that a relief fund of Rs. 1,200 crores will be provided to the state to repair the damage caused by the disaster. Along with this, he personally met the families of those who died in the floods and disasters and consoled them.
- He also said that Rs. 2 lakh will be given to the families of the deceased and Rs. 50 thousand to those who were seriously injured.
- Shri C P Radhakrishnan took oath as the 15th Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha today. At the swearing-in ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President administered the oath to him by Smt. Draupadi Murmu. Shri Radhakrishnan was previously the Governor of Maharashtra.
- After taking oath, Shri C P Radhakrishnan visited Rajghat and paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. He paid tributes to former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sathiv Adal, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Memorial at Deendayal Upadhyaya Marg and former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh at Kishanghat.
