G. Venkataraman appointed as acting DGP of Tamil Nadu
  • Sankar Jiwal, who was the Director General of Tamil Nadu Police and DGP (Law and Order), will retire on Sunday (August 31). In this regard, G. Venkataraman has been appointed as the acting DGP (Law and Order). The Tamil Nadu government has issued an order in this regard.
  • Venkataraman, who is the DGP of the Administrative Division of the Tamil Nadu Police, has also been given the additional responsibility of DGP (Law and Order).
  • Venkataraman will assume the charge of DGP (Law and Order) at 3.30 pm on Sunday. He will be handed over the responsibilities by retiring DGP Shankar Jiwal.
  • Venkataraman, a native of Nagapattinam, was born on May 8, 1968. He has a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in public administration and management.
  • After this, Venkataraman, who passed the IPS examination in 1994, has served in various important positions in the Tamil Nadu Police.
  • He mainly worked effectively in the positions of DIG and IG of the Anti-Corruption Department. After this, he also solved various important cases in the positions of CPCID and ADGP of the Cyber Crime Division.
  • Venkataraman, who was promoted to DGP in December last year, was working in the administrative division. Along with the responsibility of DGP of Law and Order, Venkataraman will also look after the work of Director General of Tamil Nadu Police.
  • It is worth mentioning that K. Ramanujam has already looked after the post of DGP of Law and Order in the Tamil Nadu Police in the last period of 2011 and D.K. Rajendran in the period of 2017.
