S. Mahendra Dev takes charge as the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister
- The post of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister had been lying vacant since November last year following the demise of Vivek Debroy, the first Chairman. Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Peri was holding the post with additional responsibility.
- In this context, the Prime Minister has approved the appointment of S. Mahendra as the new Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council for a period of two years or until further orders, the Union Cabinet Secretariat said in a recent order. He has since taken charge as the new Chairman.
