Census to be conducted in India in 2027
  • The national census is conducted once every 10 years. Accordingly, the census that was to be conducted in 2021 could not be conducted due to the spread of the corona infection. A notification has been published in the official gazette today regarding the census.

  • The official gazette has stated that the census will be conducted based on October 1, 2026 only in the union territories of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and the census will be conducted based on March 1, 2027 in the rest of the states of the country. It is noteworthy that the census will be conducted in two phases.
The country's exports increased by 2.8% in May and imports decreased by 1%
  • The Union Ministry of Commerce has announced that the value of the country's exports increased by 2.8% in May. The country's total merchandise and service exports for May this year were estimated at $71.12 billion, a 2.77% increase over the same month of the previous year.
  • The country's total merchandise and service imports for May were estimated at $77.75 billion. This is a 1.02% decline over the same month last year. The growth in merchandise exports in May was driven by merchandise, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, marine products, and ready-made garments.
  • In particular, the export value of electronic goods, including smartphones, increased to $4.57 billion. This is 54% more than last year. It was $2.97 billion in May last year. Similarly, chemical exports increased by 16% to $2.68 billion. It was $2.31 billion last year.
  • Pharmaceutical exports increased by 7.38% to $2.48 billion, compared to $2.31 billion in May last year. Exports of marine products also increased by 26.79% to $0.73 billion, and ready-made garments exports increased by 11.35% to $1.51 billion, the report said.
Wholesale Price Index in India for May 2025
  • The inflation rate based on the All India Wholesale Price Index for May 2025 (over May 2024) is 0.39%. The increase in prices of primary food items, electricity, other manufactured goods, chemicals, other transport equipment, non-food manufacturing, etc., in May 2025 is due to the positive rate of inflation.
  • Primary commodities (special level 22.62%):- Minerals (-7.16%) and non-food items (-0.63%) prices decreased in May 2025 compared to April 2025. Food prices increased by (0.56%) in May 2025 compared to April 2025,
  • Fuel & Power (13.15%):- Mineral oils prices decreased by (-2.06%) in May 2025 compared to April 2025. Coal prices increased by (0.81%) and Power prices increased by (0.80%) in May 2025 compared to April 2025.
  • Manufactured goods (Special level 64.23%):- Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products; Computer, electronic, glass fibre products; Pharmaceuticals, chemical and botanical products, textiles etc. saw month-on-month price increases. Manufacture of food products, basic metals, rubber, plastic products, chemical products, electrical equipment etc. saw price declines.
  • Wholesale Food Price Index (Special level 24.38%):- Food index increased by 189.3 in May from 189.3 in April 189.5. The inflation rate based on the Wholesale Price Food Index has decreased from 2.55% in April 2025 to 1.72% in May 2025.
Indian Army successfully tests Rudrastra drone

  • The drone 'Rudrastra' was developed by Solar Aerospace and Defence Limited (STAL) using indigenous technology. It has the capability of taking off and landing vertically.
  • The missile successfully completed its field trials in Pokhran. During the test, it destroyed a target at a distance of 50 km. The tests conducted by increasing the target distance were also successful.
  • The Rudrastra drone can fly for 1.5 hours and hit a target at a distance of 170 km. This drone can operate autonomously and return to the place from which it took off. In addition, the attack scenes can be seen live through the camera in it.
  • This drone, manufactured under the Make in India program, can strike targets and terrorist camps up to 100 km inside the enemy country. Various companies involved in drone manufacturing were invited to witness the test. 
  • This will encourage them and help them find innovation. This will reduce the dependence of drones on foreign countries. As drones with artificial intelligence technology play an important role in modern warfare, there is a need to manufacture ultra-modern drones. Therefore, the Indian Army attaches great importance to drone manufacturing and testing.
