Chief Minister Stalin laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs. 468 crore
- On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, which operates under the Urban Development Department, Chief Minister Stalin inaugurated 4,978 new apartments built at a cost of Rs. 527.84 crore in the Kailashapuram project area in Chennai, Virudhunagar-Sampantapuram, Madurai-Ucchapatti, Pudukkottai-Sarchopettai, Kallakurichi-Keeranoor-2, Tirupur-Hitech Park Nagar, Kamarajnagar Perunthozhvu, Kanchipuram-Salamangalam-1, Cuddalore-Keelaguppam-1 and 2, Palakollai, Thiruvathigai, Erode-Kaunthappadi, Thiruvarur-Kandithampettai, Karur-Velambadi project areas through video conferencing from the Secretariat.
- Similarly, the Chief Minister inaugurated the commercial complexes built at a cost of Rs. 207.90 crore. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the completed projects at a cost of Rs. 14.66 crore, including open-air playgrounds and modern fitness parks at 4 locations. Apart from this, he laid the foundation stone for 20 new projects at various locations in Chennai at a cost of Rs. 255.60 crore.
- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today (21.5.2025) inaugurated 3 newly constructed hostel buildings at Parangimalai, Hosur and Tiruvannamalai at a cost of Rs. 38 crore 15 lakh at the Secretariat, on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Working Women's Hostels Corporation, which operates under the Department of Social Welfare and Women's Rights.
- He also laid the foundation stone for 14 hostel buildings to be constructed at Chennai - Taramani and Chepauk, Madurai, Coimbatore, Nagapattinam, Krishnagiri, Erode, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Theni, Sivaganga, Ranipet and Karur at an estimated cost of Rs. 176.93 crore.
- India formally assumed the chairmanship of Asian Productivity Organization (APO) for the period 2025-26 during the 67th session of the General Assembly of the Executive Committee of Asian Productivity Organization (APO) to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 20-22 May 2025.
- The Indian delegation is headed by Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Director, ABO for India.
- The historic refit ship was formally inducted into the Indian Navy at a ceremony held at the Naval Base in Karwar, where it was named INSV Goundinya. The event, marking the culmination of an extraordinary project to celebrate India’s rich shipbuilding heritage, was presided over by Union Minister for Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
- INSV Goundinya is a sailing ship based on the 5th century AD ship depicted in the Ajanta cave paintings. The project was initiated through a tripartite agreement signed in July 2023 between the Indian Navy and Hodi Innovations, with funding from the Union Ministry of Culture.
- Following the laying of the keel for the construction of the ship in September 2023, the construction of the ship was carried out in traditional ways by a team of skilled craftsmen from Kerala.
- After a program led by eminent writer Mr. Babu Sankaran. During the construction work that took place over several months, the team effortlessly attached wooden planks to the surface of the ship using materials like coconut and coconut fiber, natural resin. The ship was tested in the Goa waters in February 2025.
