Central Government releases Rs 2,999 crore to Tamil Nadu under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme
- The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, which aims to improve the livelihood of rural people and create employment, ensures that a family is provided with at least 100 days of paid employment per year.
- Each family card will be issued a unique employment guarantee card. This will create sustainable income opportunities in rural areas. In this context, the Central Government had delayed the release of Rs 4,034 crore to Tamil Nadu. Now, the Central Government has released Rs 2,999 crore from that pending amount.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated India's first World Sound, Light and Entertainment Summit at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.
- Waves 2025 is a four-day summit with the slogan "Connecting Creators, Connecting Nations". It is poised to establish India as a global hub for media, entertainment and electronic innovation by bringing together creators, innovators, industry leaders and policymakers from across the world.
- The GST revenue in April, the first month of the financial year 2025-26, was Rs 2.37 lakh crore. This is 12.6% higher than the same month last year (Rs 2.1 lakh crore). The revenue in March was Rs 1.96 lakh crore. This is the highest since the implementation of GST on July 1, 2017.
- Of this, GST revenue from domestic transactions increased by 10.7 percent to about Rs 1.9 lakh crore. The revenue from imported goods increased by 20.8 percent to Rs 46,913 crore.
