The word 'colony' to be removed from government documents - CM Stalin announces
- As the word 'colony' has become a slang term, CM Stalin announced in the assembly that steps will be taken to remove the word from government documents. Speaking in the assembly, Chief Minister Stalin said, "The word "colony" has been recorded as a symbol of denigration of the indigenous people of this land.
- Since it has become a curse word as a symbol of domination and a symbol of untouchability, I also inform you that steps will be taken to remove this word from government documents and public circulation.
- A high-level committee headed by the Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah has approved an additional central assistance of Rs. 153.36 crore to hail-hit Manipur in 2024. This assistance, which will be received from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF), is subject to a 50% adjustment in the initial balance for the year available in the State Disaster Relief Fund (STRF).
- This additional assistance is in addition to the funds already provided by the Central Government to the states in the State Disaster Relief Fund. In the financial year 2024-25, the Central Government has released Rs. 20,264.40 crore to 28 States under the State Disaster Relief Fund and Rs. 5,160.76 crore to 19 States under the National Disaster Relief Fund.
- In addition, Rs. 4984.25 crore has been released to 19 States from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund and Rs. 719.72 crore to 8 States from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund. Similarly, in the financial year 2025-26, the Central Government has released Rs. 895.60 crore under the STRF and Rs. 929.633 crore under the NDRF to 07 States so far.
