Chief Minister Stalin launched the pink auto scheme
- On the occasion of International Women's Day, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched various welfare schemes for women on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government on Saturday.
- On the occasion of World Women's Day Festival - 2025 being held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, he flagged off 250 autos for women, including 100 pink autos for women on behalf of the Social Welfare and Women's Rights Department, 50 blue electric autos for women from the Self-Help Group Department, and 100 yellow autos for women from the Labour Welfare Department.
- It is noteworthy that under this scheme, 250 women drivers have been selected in the first phase and a government subsidy of up to Rs. 1 lakh has been provided.
- The 3rd phase of excavation work is underway at Vijayakarisal pond near Vembakkottai in Virudhunagar district. So far, 20 pits have been dug, of which 7 have been fully excavated, and the work of measuring has been completed and workers are engaged in the work of sealing the pits.
- More than 3,800 items including clay stamps, clay sports items, clay cooking utensils, clay lamps, gold ornaments, and a pearl necklace have been found in 18 pits. Recently, clay earrings, conch bracelets, glass beads, and a clay bicycle cone have been found.
- The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today (08.03.2025) inaugurated various development projects in Navsari, Gujarat. Empowerment of women is a milestone in the work undertaken by the government.
- As per the vision of the Prime Minister, the government is committed to taking steps towards their overall development.
- On this occasion, on March 8, on the occasion of International Women's Day, the Prime Minister participated in the Lakshathipathi Sisters' event held at Vansi Porsi village in Navsari district and interacted with the Lakshathipathi Sisters. He also presented certificates to 5 Lakshathipathi Sisters.
- The G-Maitri scheme will provide financial assistance and mentoring support to start-ups working to create an enabling environment for rural livelihoods.
- The G-Saphal scheme will provide financial assistance and entrepreneurship training to self-help groups of women belonging to Antyodaya families in two development-oriented districts and 13 development-oriented taluks of Gujarat.
- The President of the Republic, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, today (March 8, 2025) inaugurated the National Conference on the theme of Women Power for a Developed India ('Nari Shakti Se Vikshit Bharat') in New Delhi.
- The conference was organized by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development on the occasion of International Women's Day.
- The Prague Masters Chess Tournament is being held in Prague, Czech Republic. In the last and 9th round, Indian Grandmaster Arvind Chidambaram faced Turkey's Kurel Edis.
- Playing with black pieces, Arvind Chidambaram ended the game in a draw in the 39th move. With this, Arvind Chidambaram topped the rankings with 6 points and won the Prague Masters Chess Championship title.
- Arvind Chidambaram did not face a single defeat in this series. He had recorded 3 wins and 6 draws in a total of 9 rounds. Another Indian Grandmaster, R. Praggnanandha, came in 2nd place. He faced Netherlands' Anish Giri in the last round. In this, Praggnanandhaa lost on the 40th move.
