Supreme Court Justice B.R. Kawai conducts a team study in Manipur
- A five-judge Supreme Court Justice B.R. Kawai conducted a team study in violence-hit Manipur. The team of judges, who conducted a study in Churachandpur, where the Kuki community is in the majority, and Bishnupur, where the Meiti community is in large numbers, opened legal aid centers and health centers for the people affected by the violence.
- Following this, while the team of judges visited a relief camp for the Kuki community in Churachandpur, Justice B.R. Kawai asked people to have faith in the Constitution and work together to restore peace.
- He also assured that the government administration, people's representatives and the judiciary would work together to find quick solutions to the challenges faced by the people.
- Stating that the Constitution keeps us united and strong, Justice Kawai categorically stated that the Constitution will one day ensure the restoration of peace in Manipur. The Supreme Court bench will participate in the 12th anniversary celebrations of the Manipur High Court today.
- The second frigate of the Project 1135.6 series of frigates, named 'Tavasya', built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), was launched and commissioned at the GSL site in Goa today (March 22, 2025) in the presence of the Minister of State for Defence, Shri Sanjay Seth.
- These frigates are a continuation of the P1135.6 series of frigates, which are currently being built domestically at Indian shipyards.
- The agreement for the construction of two Project 1135.6 frigates was signed between the Ministry of Defence and Goa Shipyard Limited on 25 January 2019. The first ship 'Triput' was launched on 23 July 2024.
- These ships are designed for land, underwater and air combat operations. 'Triput' and 'Tavasya' are 124.8 metres long and 15.2 metres wide. 'Triput' and 'Tavasya' have a high percentage of indigenously sourced equipment, weapons and sensors.
- The Annual General Meeting of INTACH, the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, was held today (22 March 2025) at its headquarters in New Delhi.
- The election of the Chairman and members of the Governing Council was successfully held. The results were declared following due process. Shri Ashok Singh Thakur was elected as the Chairman for a term of three years.
