15th Finance Commission Grant of Rs 620 crore to Rural Local Bodies in Maharashtra
- The Central Government has released the Fifteenth Finance Commission Grants for the financial year 2024-25 to Rural Local Bodies in Maharashtra. The second installment of the Consolidated Grant is Rs 611.6913 crore and the outstanding amount of the first installment of the Consolidated Grant is Rs 8.4282 crore.
- The funds will be given to 4 eligible district panchayats, 40 eligible block panchayats and 21551 eligible gram panchayats in the state.
- The state's Planning Department conducted a caste-wise census in Telangana last month. The census revealed that the backward classes have a high number of people in Telangana.
- The report stated that the number of backward classes in the state is 56.36 percent. In this situation, the Telangana Backward Classes Reservation Bill 2025 and the Telangana Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Reservation Bill 2025 have been introduced in the Legislative Assembly and passed unanimously.
- Through these bills, the reservation for the backward classes has been increased from 29 percent to 42 percent. Similarly, the reservation for the Scheduled Castes has been increased from 15 percent to 18 percent and the reservation for the Scheduled Tribes from 6 percent to 10 percent.
- Through this, the reservation for the backward classes will be increased in education, employment, local body elections, etc.
