Round tiles discovered in third phase of Vembakottai excavation
- The third phase of excavation has been underway in the Vijayakarishalkulam Mettukadu area near Vembakottai in Virudhunagar district since June 18.
- So far, more than 3,300 artifacts including coral, clay seals, gold coins, copper coins, clay figurines, chess pieces, glass beads, and conch bracelets have been found in the excavation pit dug today. In this context, 13 round tiles were discovered at once in the excavation pit dug today.
- The archaeological department has said that it is being revealed that round tiles were used to play Pandi during the time when ancient people lived, and that the ancestors also gave importance to this as a means of entertainment.
