Indus Valley Civilization Discovery International Seminar - Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the Indus Valley Civilization Discovery Centenary International Seminar on behalf of the Archaeological Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
- The seminar will be held at the Egmore Government Museum Gallery from today to Jan. 7. The Chief Minister will also release the book ‘Indus Valley Calligraphy and Tamil Nadu Symbols: A Geometric Study’ and deliver a speech.
- In this seminar, which will be held for 3 days, 24 researchers, archaeologists and scholars from foreign countries and outside states will present their research papers on various topics on the Indus Valley Civilization and other civilizations and cultures of the Indian subcontinent.
- Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the International Conference on the Centenary of the Discovery of the Indus Valley Civilization on behalf of the Department of Archaeology of the Government of Tamil Nadu and made 3 important announcements.
- We are still unable to clearly understand the writing system of the flourishing Indus Valley Civilization. Many people, including archaeologists, Tamil linguists and computer experts from all over the world, are still making great efforts to solve this Indus Valley mystery that has not been solved even after a hundred years. In order to encourage those efforts, the first announcement is that a prize of one million US dollars will be given to the person or organization that finds the right answer to the Indus Valley mystery and reveals a method that will help archaeologists to clearly understand the Indus Valley writing system.
- The second announcement is that a grant of Rs. 2 crore will be provided to establish a research chair in the name of eminent archaeologist Airavatham Mahadevan to conduct continuous research on the Indus Valley Civilization, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Government Archaeological Department, at the Indus Valley Research Centre of the Roja Muthiah Library.
- To encourage not only the eminent archaeologists but also epigraphic researchers and numismatic experts who are working tirelessly to make the world aware of the antiquity of Tamil culture, awards will be given to two scholars every year. This is the third announcement.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched several development projects worth Rs. 12,200 crore in Delhi and laid the foundation stone for new projects. The main focus of the projects is to improve regional connectivity and ease travel.
- The Prime Minister also travelled in the Namo Bharat train from Sahibabad RRTS station to New Ashok Nagar RRTS station. The Prime Minister inaugurated the 13-km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat route between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar, worth about Rs 4,600 crore.
- The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 2.8-km long stretch of Delhi Metro from Janakpuri to Krishna Park, Phase IV. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of a new state-of-the-art building for the Central Institute of Ayurveda Research, to be built at a cost of about Rs 185 crore in Rohini, New Delhi.
