Manufacturing growth fell to 56 points in November
- HSBC has released a report on manufacturing growth for November. In it, the manufacturing PMI index for November was 56.5. The index was 57.5 in the previous month of October. In comparison, it can be seen that production has decreased.
- Although Rs. 2,000 notes are legal tender, on May 19, 2023, the Reserve Bank of India announced that it would withdraw Rs. 2,000 notes from circulation. The total value of Rs 2,000 notes in circulation, which stood at Rs 3.56 lakh crore as on the close of business on May 19, 2023, has come down to Rs 6,839 crore as on the close of business on November 29, 2024.
- Thus, 98.08% of the Rs 2,000 notes in circulation as on May 19, 2023, it said in its statement. The facility to deposit and/or exchange Rs 2,000 notes was allowed in all bank branches till October 7, 2023.
- However, this facility is still available at 19 offices in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.
- It was informed that the public can send Rs. 2,000 notes through India Post from any post office in the country to be credited to their bank accounts. In November 2016, Rs. 2000 notes were introduced. At the same time, Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 notes were declared invalid in November 2016.
