We will celebrate the Valluvar statue as the 'Statue of Wisdom' - Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's announcement
- We will celebrate the Valluvar statue in Kumari as the 'Statue of Knowledge', Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has said. The Tamil Nadu government is going to celebrate the silver jubilee of the Thiruvalluvar statue in Kanyakumari to mark 25 years since it was erected.
- The Tamil Nadu government has already announced that the silver jubilee programs of the Valluvar statue will be held in Kanyakumari on December 31 and January 1.
- It has been announced that essay competitions for school students - shorts - reels on social media among college students - painting competitions that convey the beauty of Thirukkural through AI and digital technologies, programs will be held in district libraries and government offices.
- The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth Rs 7,628.70 crore with Larsen & Toubro Limited for procurement of 155 mm / 52 caliber K9 Vajra-T artillery guns.
- The agreement was signed by senior officials of the Ministry and representatives of L&T in the presence of Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Defence, at the Parliament Complex in New Delhi on 20 December 2024.
- The procurement of K9 Vajra-T modern artillery guns will improve the overall security preparedness of the Army. The operational capability of such artillery guns will enhance the capabilities of the security forces in all areas.
- This gun, equipped with cutting-edge technology, operates in sub-zero temperatures and is capable of hitting targets with precision, long range and high altitude.
- These measures will generate over nine lakh man-days of employment in four years and encourage participation of various sectors including MSMEs. This scheme will help in achieving the goals of self-reliance in India under the 'Make in India' initiative.
