Promulgation of notification exempting industrial establishments from dual clearance
- The Center has accepted the industry's long-standing demand to do away with the twin compliances of environmental clearance and installation permit for setting up new factories.
- Now, non-polluting white-type industries are not required to take establishment permit or consent to operate (CTO). Factories with environmental clearances are not required to take up the bandwagon.
- This not only reduces the compliance burden but also prevents duplication of approvals. Union Ministry of Environment has issued notifications in this regard under Air Pollution Act and Water Act.
- This notification effectively integrates these two approvals and lays down a procedural standard for taking into account the issues considered during the approval process in the environmental permit itself.
- During the environmental clearance process, State Pollution Control Boards are consulted. Also, the industry should pay the concert fee so that the states do not suffer loss of revenue
- In February 2021, India donated 70,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Dominica during the outbreak of COVID-19. Apart from this, India also provided assistance for the development of health, education and information technology in Dominica.

- The 58th Executive Committee Meeting of the National Movement for Cleanliness of the Ganges has approved various important projects. The meeting was attended by the Director General of the National Movement for Ganga River Cleanliness. Rajiv Kumar Mittal presided.
- These projects aim to take significant steps in the conservation of the river Ganga and its aquatic life. The Executive Committee has approved a major project to assess the ecological distribution of the Sambal, Sone, Damodar and Dans rivers.
- With an allocation of Rs 11 crore, the project aims not only to assess the ecological distribution of these rivers, but also to prepare hydrological and hydrodynamic models to help scientifically evaluate the stream systems.
- An ambitious plan to protect the Gangetic river dolphin has been approved. A fund of Rs 1 crore has been earmarked for the project titled 'Advanced Rescue System for Conservation of Floundering Ganges River Dolphins'.
- It aims to develop a special rescue vehicle called 'Dolphin Ambulance' to help endangered dolphins. Additionally, the program will focus on creating awareness on dolphin conservation and community capacity building through training.
- An innovative and highly significant project for conservation of endangered turtles in the Ganga basin in Uttar Pradesh has also been approved. The project is estimated to cost Rs 78.09 lakh.
