'Maharatna' status for HAL
- HAL is a Central Public Sector Undertaking for the Defense Manufacturing Sector. The proposal for upgrading the institution to Maharatna status was recommended by an inter-ministerial committee headed by the finance secretary and a high-level committee headed by the Union cabinet secretary.
- Following the approval of the Union Finance Minister, the Ministry of Public Sector Enterprises announced on its X website that it has become the 14th company to receive the Maharatna status.
