Chief Minister M. K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for the Tata factory
- Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin today (28.09.2024) on behalf of the Department of Industry, Investment Promotion and Commerce laid the foundation stone for setting up a vehicle manufacturing plant of Tata Motors with an investment of 9,000 crore rupees and providing employment to 5,000 people in a program held at Panpakakkam Industrial Park, Ranipet district.
- Under the scheme, Tata Motors and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) luxury vehicles will be manufactured using 100 percent renewable energy. An MoU for this project was signed in March this year. It is noteworthy that within six months of the signing of the MoU, the foundation stone for this project was laid today by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
- After reaching record production levels in FY 2023-24, production of some major minerals in the country has seen continued strong growth in FY 2024-25 (April-August). Iron ore accounts for about 70% of total mineral production by value. Iron ore production in FY 2023-24 is estimated at 274 million MT.
- Iron ore production increased to 116 MT in FY 2024-25 (April-August) from 108 million MT in FY 2023-24, showing a healthy growth of 7.4%, according to provisional data. Manganese ore production rose 15.4% to 1.5 MT in FY 2024-25 (April-August).
- In the non-ferrous metal sector, aluminum production in FY2024-25 (April-August) registered a growth of 1.3% over the same period last year. This has increased from 17.26 lakh tonnes in FY 2023-24 (April-August) to 17.49 lakh tonnes in FY 2024-25 (April-August).
- Refined copper production increased by 5.8 percent from 1.91 lakh tonnes to 2.02 lakh tonnes during the same period. India is among the top 10 producers of refined copper, the world's 2nd largest producer of aluminum and 4th largest producer of iron ore.
