Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigns
- Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country as student protests over reservation escalated. Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rihana have left the Prime Minister's residence for safety.
- In his speech after Sheikh Hasina's ouster, the army chief assured that the demands of the protesters would be considered. Therefore, the army chief has demanded to abandon the protest and return to the path of peace.
- The army commander has also said that the army will support the establishment of an interim government in Bangladesh. He also said that we will form an interim government under the control of the army and run the country.
- The Supreme Court has ordered that there is no restriction on the Governor appointing 10 members to the Corporation of Delhi. The Delhi Governor's decision to appoint 10 members does not require the advice of the State Government. It also said that the Lieutenant Governor has the power to appoint members to the Corporation of Delhi.
- Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena was today given a verdict on his right to appoint 10 nominees to the Delhi Corporation without consulting the ruling cabinet. A bench headed by Chief Justice Chandrachud had adjourned the judgment to May 2023 after the deliberations on the case were over. In this case, the verdict was delivered today
- The Supreme Court has confirmed that the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi can appoint members to the Municipal Corporations of Delhi without consulting the Cabinet. The Supreme Court thereby confirmed the internal power of the Lt. Governor.
- The Supreme Court ruled that it is not necessary for the Deputy Commissioner to consult the advice or opinions of the Delhi Government or the Cabinet Committee and that the already made amendment to the law is a circular.
