Karunanidhi's books are national ownership - Chief Minister Stalin's announcement
- The books of Tamil writers have been nationalized by the Tamil Development Department and royalties are being paid to their heirs based on the number and quality of the books written by them.
- So far, the books of 179 Tamil scholars have been nationalized and a royalty amount of Rs 14.42 crore has been awarded to their heirs by the government.
- In this regard, the Chief Minister has today (22.8.2024) issued an order on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu to nationalize all the books of Muthamizharinagar Kalainar, a leader who worked hard for social justice, who fought for the oppressed people, who gave Tamil the status of a classical language, and who, through his writings and speeches, has found a place in the hearts of Tamils living all over the world.
- At the University Vice-Chancellors' Conference held on 30.8.2022 at Anna University, Chennai, the Chancellor said, “Muthalvar's Research Incentive” scheme will be launched to “enhance the research capacity of our students and encourage innovation in Tamil Nadu”. He announced that the state-level qualifying examination will be conducted and the students will be selected.
- Accordingly, in order to encourage the research capacity and new discoveries of students studying higher education in Tamil Nadu, the merit test was conducted by the Teacher Selection Board on 10.12.2023 to select research students to benefit from the Chief Minister's Research Incentive Scheme and 120 students were selected.
- Out of these 60 students belong to Science stream and 60 students belong to Arts, Anthropology and Sociology streams. 120 selected students will be given an incentive of Rs. 25,000 per month for three years to pursue their research studies in government universities and government arts and science colleges. A fund of Rs.12.31 crore has been earmarked for this project.
- In order to start this program, the Chief Minister gave orders for the Research Incentive Program to 10 students out of 120 selected students at the Chief Secretariat on Thursday.
- This scheme will help the students who are going to do post graduate studies and research in higher education institutes of Tamil Nadu.
- In the Vembakotta excavations of Virudhunagar district, a bull in a hollow carved form of carnelian has been found. It is meant to be printed on a ring. In the last two phases of excavation, 15 Sutupavala stone beads were found.
- This is the first time that a roaring bull figure in Thim has been found in engraving. The medal measures 10.6 mm in circumference, 3.6 mm in thickness and weighs 60 mg.
- Till now bulls were found in clay thims, now it is better to find bulls in thim carved in Suthupavala stone. Gemstones that can be used to make sapphire beads are available only in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat.
- The technique of hollowing out stone figures in this way was unique in the Urom country. Similar to this, in the excavations of Geezadi, the port city of Cherar, Musiri (Pattanam), medallions engraved with animal motifs have been found in Sutupavala Kalmani.
- At the bottom there is a figure of a wild boar and a lion flowing in the musiri. Sutupavala beaded pendants found at Geezadi and Musiri belong to the Sangam period. Similarly, the one available in Vembakotta is also good.
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi (22.08.2024) met the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Mr. Donald Tusk in Warsaw. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk gave a ceremonial welcome to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
- The two leaders held talks in delegation capacity. Considering the importance of good relations between India and Poland, the two leaders decided to further develop the relationship.
- They engaged in detailed discussions on various aspects of bilateral cooperation including trade, investment, science, technology, defence, cultural cooperation and people-to-people relations.
- The two leaders agreed that there are significant opportunities for economic and trade cooperation in areas such as food processing, urban infrastructure, drinking water, solid waste management, electric vehicles, green hydrogen, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, mining and clean technologies.
- The leaders pointed out the importance of deepening people-to-people and cultural ties between the two countries. They highlighted the unique bond established between the two countries based on the generosity of the Maharaja of Jamnagar and the Kolhapur royal family.
- The two leaders discussed all important regional and global issues of mutual interest, including conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia. They also exchanged views on reforms in the United Nations and other international organizations, climate change action, threats posed by terrorism, etc.
- After this meeting a Joint Statement and Action Plan [2024-2028] for implementation of India-Poland cooperation activities was released.
