Iron Anjanakola found in Marungur Excavations

  • Antiquities such as copper coins of the Rajarasan era, flint beads, green glass beads, and relief-type potsherds were collected in the excavation at Marungur in Cuddalore district. Anjanakol made of copper, used for blinding eyes, was found at a depth of 127 cm. 
  • This Anjanakola is 4.7 cm long and weighs 3.6 grams. It is noteworthy that in the second phase of excavation in Polpanaikottai near Pudukottai, 2 sapphire beads and an agate type bead were found today.
Road accident fatalities in India from 2018 to 2022
  • State and Union Territories police have provided details of the number of road accident deaths in the country from 2018 to 2022. 1,57,593 people died in 2018, 1,58,984 in 2019, 1,38,383 in 2020, 1,53,972 in 2021 and 1,68,491 in 2022.
  • The details of those who died due to violation of traffic rules in 2022 have also been given. Accordingly, 1,19,904 people died in accidents due to driving vehicles at high speed. 
  • 4,201 people died in accidents due to driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, 9,094 in accidents due to driving on wrong lanes, 1,462 in accidents due to crossing the red light limit, 3,395 in accidents while talking on mobile phones, and 30,435 due to other causes.
Introduction of Indian warship Tribute
  • The first of two advanced warships under construction by Goa Shipyard Company (GSL) for the Indian Navy was launched in Goa. In keeping with maritime tradition, the ship was piloted by Mrs. Rita Sridharan for prayers from the Atharva Veda in the presence of Governor of Goa, Mr. PS Sreedharan Pillai. T
  • he ship is named Triput after the mighty arrow that represents the Indian Navy's spirit of invincibility and its ability to strike far and deep. An agreement to build two Tribute modern warships was signed between the Ministry of Defense and Goa Shipyard on 25 January 2019. 
  • The ship is designed for combat operations against enemy surface ships, submarines and aircraft carriers. Tribute-class ships are 124.8 m long and 15.2 m wide. Their displacement is approximately 3600 tons. The maximum speed is 28 nautical miles. These ships are equipped with advanced stealth features, modern weapons, sensors, platform management systems.
  • The Triput-class vessels being built in Goa are modeled on the Tek and Talwar-class vessels sourced from Russia. These warships are being built indigenously by an Indian shipyard for the first time.
C-DOT ties up with IIT Roorkee and Mandi to build 6G access hubs
  • In a significant move to develop new technologies indigenously, the Center for Telematics Development (C-DOT), a leading telecom research and development center under the Central Department of Telecom, has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and Mandi to develop 'cell-free' 6-G access points. The two IITs are collaborating to develop this new technology.
  • The agreement has been signed under the Telecom Technology Development Fund of the Central Department of Telecom. The fund is designed to provide funding to indigenous industries, Indian industrial enterprises, educational institutes, research institutes for technology design, development, commercialization of telecommunication equipment.
