• தேசியக் கொடி தினம் 2024 / NATIONAL FLAG DAY OF INDIA 2024: இந்தியாவின் அரசியல் நிர்ணய சபை இன்றைய மூவர்ணக் கொடியை நாட்டின் அதிகாரப்பூர்வ தேசியக் கொடியாக ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட வரலாற்று தினத்தை நினைவுகூரும் வகையில் ஆண்டுதோறும் ஜூலை 22 அன்று இந்தியாவில் தேசியக் கொடி தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. 
• இந்த குறிப்பிடத்தக்க நாள் அதன் ஆழமான குங்குமப்பூ, வெள்ளை மற்றும் இந்திய பச்சை நிற கோடுகள் மற்றும் மையத்தில் அசோக சக்கரத்துடன் மூவர்ணக் கொடியின் அதிகாரப்பூர்வ தேர்வைக் குறிக்கிறது.

• NATIONAL FLAG DAY OF INDIA 2024: National Flag Day in India is celebrated annually on July 22 to commemorate the historic day when the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the present-day tricolour flag as the official National Flag of the country. 
• This significant day marks the official selection of the tricolour flag with its deep saffron, white, and Indian green stripes, and the Ashoka Chakra in the centre. 
• The occasion also serves as a platform to appreciate and raise public awareness about the flag’s role in symbolising India’s independence, unity, and rich heritage.

Evolution of the Indian National Flag

• NATIONAL FLAG DAY OF INDIA 2024: 1906: The first Indian flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya, a freedom fighter from Andhra Pradesh. The flag was a horizontal tricolor of red, yellow, and green with a white crescent and star in the center.
• 1917: The flag was modified to have a saffron color at the top, white in the middle, and green at the bottom. The crescent and star were also moved to the top left corner of the flag.
• 1921: The flag was again modified to have the Ashoka Chakra, a 24-spoke wheel, in the center of the white stripe. The Ashoka Chakra is a Buddhist symbol that represents the wheel of law.
• 1931: The flag was adopted by the Indian National Congress as its official flag.
• 1947: The flag was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India on July 22, 1947, as the national flag of India.
