4th meeting of the Task Force on Tourism Development in North Eastern Region
- The 4th meeting of the Task Force for Promotion of Tourism in North East region was held in New Delhi today. Officials from all North Eastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura participated in this meeting.
- Nithi Aayog, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and private stakeholders participated in it.
- The working group meeting discussed strategies along with an action plan for the comprehensive and sustainable development of tourism in the North Eastern region through dialogue with stakeholders including the private sector.
- The 26th World Energy Conference is being held in Rotterdam, Netherlands. In this yesterday (24.04.2024) Ministerial Round Table Conference was held. The results of the UN Climate Change Conference held in Dubai were discussed in this round table conference.
- The ministerial meeting deliberated on managing energy innovation, cooperation and exchanges. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Climate and Energy Policy of the Netherlands, Mr. Rob Jetten, participated in the round table on the third day of the World Energy Conference. Mr. Pankaj Aggarwal, Union Secretary of Power participated in this on behalf of India.
- It is expected to be the premier conference for clean energy transition worldwide. The theme of the conference is 'Redesigning Energy for People and Earth'. The four-day conference will discuss in detail the role of various parties in driving the global energy transition forward.
- The World Energy Council was established in 1923 with the aim of promoting sustainable energy supply and use. India is a member of it. India is active in the World Energy Council under the auspices of the Union Ministry of Power and the Ministries of Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Petroleum, Natural Gas and External Affairs.
- In a significant step towards sustainable development in India, REC Ltd., a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise and a leading non-banking financial institution under the Ministry of Power, is availing a green loan amounting to 60.536 billion Japanese Yen to fund eligible green projects in India.
- The loan comes from the Italian Export Credit Agency, SACE. This is the first loan collaboration between a Government of India agency and SACE. This credit facility will be a strategic investment for REC. This coupled with the company's green financial framework is expected to promote sustainable growth.
