Prime Minister inaugurated the 2550th Lord Mahavir Nirvana Makotsavam on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti
- On the occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti, Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi inaugurated the 2550th Lord Mahavir Nirvana Mahakotsavam today. After paying tributes to the statue of Lord Mahaveer with rice and flower petals, Mr. Modi witnessed a dance-drama presentation by school children on Lord Mahaveer Swamy titled "Vardhaman Mein Vardaman". Prime Minister also released a commemorative stamp and coin during the event.
- Provisional figures of direct tax collection for FY 2023-24 show net collection at Rs 19.58 lakh crore as compared to Rs 16.64 lakh crore collected in previous financial year i.e. 2022-23, representing an increase of 17.70%.
- The budget estimates for direct tax revenue in the Union Budget 2023-24 have been fixed at Rs 18.23 lakh crore, which have been revised and the revised estimates have been fixed at Rs 19.45 lakh crore. Provisional direct tax collection (net of refunds) increased by 7.40% over the budget estimate and 0.67% over the revised estimate.
- The total collection of direct taxes (provisional) for FY 2023-24 (before refunds) shows a growth of 18.48% over the total collection of Rs 19.72 lakh crore in FY 2022-23.
- The total corporate tax collection (provisional) for FY 2023-24 is Rs 11.32 lakh crore and has shown a growth of 13.06% over the previous year's total corporate tax collection of Rs 10 lakh crore. Net corporate tax collection (provisional) for FY 2023-24 stands at Rs 9.11 lakh crore. This showed a growth of 10.26% over the previous year's net corporate tax collection of Rs 8.26 lakh crore.
- Total personal income tax collection (including STT) (provisional) for FY 2023-24 is Rs.12.01 lakh crore. It showed a growth of 24.26% over the previous year's total personal income tax collection (including STT) of Rs 9.67 lakh crore.
- Net personal income tax collection (including STT) (provisional) for FY 2023-24 is Rs.10.44 lakh crore. It showed a growth of 25.23% over the previous year's net personal income tax collection (including STT) of Rs 8.33 lakh crore.
- Refunds of Rs.3.79 lakh crore have been issued in FY 2023-24, which is 22.74% higher than the refunds of Rs.3.09 lakh crore issued in FY 2022-23.
