• 2016-2021 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு இடையே நாடு முழுவதும் நடைபெற்ற சிசேரியன் முறையிலான பிரசவங்கள் குறித்த அறிக்கை / REPORT ON CAESAREAN DELIVERIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY BETWEEN 2016-2021: சென்னையில் உள்ள ஐஐடி ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் நடத்திய ஆய்வில், 2016-2021 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு இடையே நாடு முழுவதும் நடைபெற்ற சிசேரியன் முறையிலான பிரசவங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை திடீரென உயர்ந்திருப்பது தெரியவந்துள்ளது. இது தொடர்பாக சென்னை ஐஐடி நிறுவனம் அறிக்கை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.
• ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்களான செல்வி வர்ஷினி நீதிமோகன், டாக்டர் பி.சிரிஷா மற்றும் டாக்டர் கிரிஜா வைத்தியநாதன், பேராசிரியர் விஆர் முரளிதரன் ஆகியோரை உள்ளடக்கிய ஐஐடி மெட்ராஸ் மானுடவியல் மற்றும் சமூக அறிவியல் துறை ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் ஆய்வை மேற்கொண்டனர்.
• நாடு முழுவதும் விரிவான பகுப்பாய்வு நடத்தப்பட்டது. ஆய்வின் முடிவில் சட்டீஸ்கர் மாநிலத்தில் கர்ப்பகால சிக்கல்கள், அதிக ஆபத்துள்ள கருவுறுதல் ஆகியவை அதிகமாக காணப்பட்டன. 
• இதையடுத்து தமிழ்நாட்டில் சிசேரியன் முறையிலான பிரசவங்கள் அதிகளவில் இருப்பதை ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் கண்டறிந்தனர்.
• 2016 முதல் 2021 வரையிலான 5 ஆண்டுகளில் நாடு முழுவதும் சிசேரியன் பிரசவங்கள் 17.2 சதவீதத்தில் இருந்து 21.5 சதவீதமாக அதிகரித்துள்ளது. தனியார் துறையைப் பொருத்தவரை இந்த எண்ணிக்கை 43.1 சதவீதமாகவும் (2016), 49.7 சதவீதமாகவும் (2021) உயர்ந்துள்ளது. அதாவது தனியார் மருத்துவமனைகளில் ஏறத்தாழ பாதிக்கு பாதி பிரசவங்கள் சிசேரியன் மூலம் நடைபெறுகின்றன.
• குறிப்பாக, மருத்துவ காரணங்களின்றி சிசேரியன் பிரசவங்கள் அதிகளவில்
• நடைபெற்று வந்தாலும் கர்ப்பகால சிக்கல்கள் 42.2 சதவீதத்தில் இருந்து 39.5 சதவீதமாகக் குறைந்திருப்பதாக தகவல் வெளியாகி உள்ளது.
• இந்நிலையில், நாட்டில் 2016-2021 ஆண்டுகளுக்கிடையே ஆய்வு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டதில் தனியார் மருத்துவமனைகளில் நடைபெற்ற பிரசவங்களில் நான்கு மடங்கு அளவுக்கு சிசேரியன் மூலம் நடைபெற்றுள்ளது. 
• சத்தீஸ்கரில் சிசேரியன் பிரசவத்திற்காக தனியார் மருத்துவமனைகளை நாடும் பெண்கள் எண்ணிக்கை 10 மடங்கும், தமிழ்நாட்டில் 3 மடங்கும் அதிகரித்துள்ளது.

• REPORT ON CAESAREAN DELIVERIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY BETWEEN 2016-2021: A study conducted by researchers at IIT Chennai has revealed a sudden rise in the number of caesarean deliveries across the country between 2016-2021. IIT Chennai has issued a report in this regard.
• The study was carried out by researchers from IIT Madras Department of Anthropology and Social Sciences, including researchers Ms. Varshini Neethimohan, Dr. P. Sirisha and Dr. Girija Vaidyanathan, Prof. VR Muralitharan.
• A comprehensive analysis was conducted across the country. At the end of the study Chhattisgarh state had higher prevalence of pregnancy complications and high risk pregnancies. Subsequently, the researchers found that cesarean births are increasing in Tamil Nadu.
• In the 5 years from 2016 to 2021, caesarean deliveries nationwide increased from 17.2 percent to 21.5 percent. As far as the private sector is concerned, this figure has risen to 43.1 percent (2016) and 49.7 percent (2021). This means that almost half of deliveries in private hospitals are by caesarean section.
• In particular, cesarean deliveries without medical reasons are on the rise. It has been reported that pregnancy complications have decreased from 42.2 percent to 39.5 percent.
• In this case, in the study conducted between 2016-2021 in the country, four times the number of deliveries in private hospitals were performed by caesarean section. 
• In Chhattisgarh the number of women resorting to private hospitals for cesarean delivery has increased 10 times and in Tamil Nadu it has increased 3 times.
