Indian economy to grow by 8 percent till 2047
  • India's economy can grow by 8 percent till 2047, International Fund (IMF) India Executive Director Krishnamurthy Venkata Subramanian has said. The share of domestic consumption in India's GDP is about 58 percent. 
  • So India should focus on domestic economy. If enough jobs can be created, it will lead to higher consumption. It is necessary to encourage the manufacturing sector to create employment. Similarly, reforms should be carried out in the fields of land, labour, capital and banking.
Test success of Tejas light fighter aircraft
  • HAL belongs to the Ministry of Defense. The Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA MK1A), which has been manufactured with indigenous technology by the company, took to the skies in Bangalore on Thursday and staged various adventures. The new type of aircraft is designed with more technology than the previous Tejas aircraft.
  • Advanced electronic radar technology has been used in the new type of aircraft. New combat technologies, advanced communication devices, additional counter-attack capabilities, and improved maintenance features are also included in the new type of aircraft. Retired Chief Test Pilot Captain KC Venugopal piloted the fighter jet which flew for 18 minutes.
India – Mozambique – Tanzania Trilateral Exercise
  • The second phase of the India-Mozambique-Tanzania trilateral exercise concluded on March 28, 2024 in Nagala, Mozambique. The week-long exercise highlights the importance of enhanced maritime cooperation and interoperability between the navies of India, Mozambique and Tanzania. 
  • INS Tir, Sujata participated in a series of joint exercises, training sessions and joint activities from March 21 to 28, providing invaluable opportunities for the three navies to exchange knowledge, enhance capabilities and enhance maritime security in the region.
  • This exercise was conducted in two phases. The initial port phase saw simultaneous intensive training sessions at INS Theer in Zanzibar and INS Sujata in Maputo from 21 to 24 March. The sea phase began on March 24 when INS Theer and INS Sujata embarked sea raiders from the navies of Tanzania and Mozambique respectively. 
  • The joint activities with the Mozambique Navy ship Namathili and the Tanzania Navy ship Fatundu demonstrated significant cooperation and sustained efforts with regional navies in line with the Sagar (Security and Development for All in the Region) vision.
  • Representatives from all three navies participated in the closing ceremony held aboard INS Theer and INS Sujata in Nagala, Mozambique. Closing remarks highlighted the successful collaboration, understanding of maritime skills and shared objectives during the exercise. 
  • It emphasized continued cooperation for maritime security and regional stability. It underscored India's commitment as a preferred security partner.
