EPFO added 16.02 lakh members in January 2024
- The payroll data indicated that around 8.08 lakh new members joined in January. A notable feature of the data is the dominance of the 18-25 age group, which accounted for 56.41% of the total new members added in January, indicating that the majority of people joining the organized labor force are young people, primarily first-time job seekers.
- The payroll data shows that around 12.17 lakh members left and later rejoined the organisation. These members changed their jobs and rejoined other organizations.
- Gender-wise analysis of wage data reveals that out of 8.08 lakh new members, about 2.05 lakh new members are women. Also, the net female membership was around 3.03 lakh during the month. Female membership represents a broader shift toward a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
- The Vikram lander of Chandrayaan 3, India's first mission to the Moon's South Pole, successfully landed on the Moon on August 23 last year.
- Following this, Prime Minister Modi announced that the area where the Vikram lander landed will be named Shivashakti. In this situation, it has been announced that the International Astronomical Union has approved this name on March 19.
- It is said that this approval has been given after an explanation from the ISRO side that the name Shivashakti, which is featured in Indian mythology, has been given. It is noteworthy that the place where Chandrayaan 1 landed in 2008 was already named as Jawahar Point.
