• பிரதான் மந்திரி சூர்யோதயா யோஜனா / PRADHAN MANTRI SURYODAYA YOJANA: ஒரு கோடி ஏழைகள் முதல் நடுத்தரக் குடும்பங்கள் வரை சூரிய சக்தியிலிருந்து மின்சாரம் வழங்குவதற்காக வீட்டின் மேற்கூரையில் சோலார் பேனல்கள் பொருத்தப்படுவதை இந்தத் திட்டம் நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது.
• இத்திட்டம் ஏழை மற்றும் நடுத்தர மக்களின் மின் கட்டணத்தைக் குறைப்பது மட்டுமல்லாமல், இந்தியாவை எரிசக்தித் துறையில் தன்னிறைவு அடையச் செய்யும் என்றும் பிரதமர் மேலும் கூறினார்.
• பிசினஸ் டுடே அறிக்கையின்படி, குடியிருப்புப் பகுதி நுகர்வோரை அதிக எண்ணிக்கையில் கூரை சோலார் பயன்படுத்துவதற்குத் திரட்டுவதற்கு ஒரு பெரிய தேசிய பிரச்சாரத்தைத் தொடங்குமாறு பிரதமர் மோடி அதிகாரிகளை வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.
• மேற்கூரை சோலார் பேனல்கள் ஒரு கட்டிடத்தின் கூரையில் நிறுவப்பட்ட ஒளிமின்னழுத்த பேனல்கள் ஆகும். அவை பிரதான மின்சார விநியோக அலகுடன் இணைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இதனால், கிரிட்-இணைக்கப்பட்ட மின்சாரத்தின் நுகர்வு குறைகிறது மற்றும் நுகர்வோருக்கு மின்சார செலவை மிச்சப்படுத்துகிறது என்றும் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• ஒரு சோலார் கூரை அமைப்பில், ஒரு முன்பண மூலதன முதலீடு மற்றும் பராமரிப்புக்கான குறைந்தபட்ச செலவு மட்டுமே உள்ளது.

• பிரதான் மந்திரி சூர்யோதயா யோஜனா / PRADHAN MANTRI SURYODAYA YOJANA: The project aims to install solar panels on the roof of houses to provide electricity from solar energy to one crore poor to middle class families.
• The Prime Minister added that the project will not only reduce the electricity bills of the poor and middle class but also make India self-sufficient in energy sector.
• According to a Business Today report, PM Modi has urged authorities to launch a major national campaign to mobilize more residential consumers to adopt rooftop solar.
• Rooftop solar panels are photovoltaic panels installed on the roof of a building. They are connected to the main power supply unit. Thus, consumption of grid-connected electricity is reduced and saves electricity costs for consumers, it is said.
• With a solar rooftop system, there is only an upfront capital investment and minimal cost of maintenance.
