Allocation of Rs.878 crore for upgradation of 393 rural roads
- Rural Development Department 3,435.17 km. 1,535 panchayats handed over to the highways department for upgradation of union and panchayat roads.
- 2,006.97 km in the last financial year 2021-22. An ordinance was issued last May giving administrative approval to upgrade 877 roads. Also, 670.09 km on behalf of Rural Development Department. Another 332 remote roads were handed over to the Highways Department for upgrading. A total of 1,393.85 km.
- The Chief Engineer of NABARD has sent a proposal to the Tamil Nadu government for upgradation of 332 remote roads at a cost of Rs 1,563 crore. The Government of Tamil Nadu has taken steps to carry out this work under the financial support of NABARD Bank.
- Subsequently, in the NABARD Bank fund allocation committee meeting, 779.61 km. 393 long roads have been approved for Rs 878 crore with state fund contribution of Rs 175.60 crore. NABARD Chief Engineer requested the Tamil Nadu government to give administrative approval for these works.
- In response to this, the Tamil Nadu government has allocated a fund of Rs.878 crore for upgradation of 393 panchayat union and panchayat roads and given administrative approval. This is stated in the decree.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a warm welcome on his arrival at Trichy International Airport. Later, Prime Minister Modi visited the newly constructed terminal at the airport. He inaugurated the new terminal in a grand function that followed.
- At Trichy International Airport Rs. 1200 crore construction of the new terminal was completed in February 2019. On the 10th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it through video. The Airport Authority Group had planned to complete these works by September 2021 and bring the new terminal into operation.
- However, due to various reasons including the spread of Corona, the works were not completed and the three years 2021, 22 and 23 were postponed.

- Trichy Bharathidasan University. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Trichy this morning to participate in the graduation ceremony and inauguration of the new terminal of Trichy International Airport.
- Attending the 38th convocation ceremony of Trichy Bharathidasan University, the Prime Minister paid respects to the statue of Bharathidasan in the university campus. Following this, Prime Minister Modi delivered the valedictory address after awarding gold medals to 33 students of the university.
- Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, Higher Education Minister R.S. Rajakannappan and others participated.
- A 45-soldier UAE ground force has arrived in India to participate in the first edition of the India-UAE joint military exercise Desert Storm.
- The Joint Military Exercise 2024 will be held from 2nd to 15th January 2024 at Mahajan, Rajasthan. It features soldiers from the UAE's Zayed 1st Brigade. 45 infantry battalion soldiers of the Indian Army are participating in this.
- The objective is to engage in expanded exercises including fighting in structured areas in deserts/semi-deserts under Chapter 7 of the UN Peacekeeping Operations. The exercise will enhance mutual coordination between the two sides during peace operations.
- It is also planned to conduct drills including setting up a coordinated monitoring center, encircling a specific area and engaging in search operations during the Desert Storm exercise. This exercise will help to share best practices between the two sides and promote a sense of mutual camaraderie.
