மைக்கேல் பட்டீஸ் (அ) சிறந்த உயிர்கோள காப்பக மேலாண்மைக்கான விருது 2023 / MICHEL PATTIS (OR) BEST BIOSPHERE RESERVE AWARD 2023

• மைக்கேல் பட்டீஸ் (அ) சிறந்த உயிர்கோள காப்பக மேலாண்மைக்கான விருது 2023 / MICHEL PATTIS (OR) BEST BIOSPHERE RESERVE AWARD 2023: மன்னார் வளைகுடாவில் அடங்கிய ராமநாதபுரம், துாத்துக்குடி கடற்கரைப் பகுதிகளில் 21 தீவுகள் இருக்கின்றன. 117 வகையான பவளப்பாறைகள் காணப்படுகின்றன. 
• இந்த உயிர்கோள காப்பகத்தில் கடல் பாசி, கடல்புற்கள், சங்குகள், ஆமை, கடல் குதிரை, கடல் அட்டை போன்ற அரியவகை உயிரினங்கள் வாழ்கின்றன. பாலுாட்டி இனங்களைச்சேர்ந்த கடல் பசு, டால்பின்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன.
• இந்த உயிர்கோள காப்பகத்தின் காப்பாளரான ஜக்தீஷ் சுதாகர்பகான் சீரியப்பணியால் சதுப்பு நில மாங்குரோவ் காடுகளும் அதிகரித்துள்ளது. 
• கடல் பசு, டால்பின் வாழ்விடங்களில் செயற்கைபவளப்பாறைகள், கடற்புல் வளர்த்து மேம்படுத்தியுள்ளார். வலையில் பிடிக்கப்பட்ட 102 அரிய வகை உயிரினங்களை மீட்டு கடலில் விடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
• கடத்தப்பட்ட 12,000 கிலோ கடல் அட்டை, கடல் குதிரைகளை பறிமுதல் செய்துள்ளார். 23,500 ஆமை குஞ்சுகள் வளர்க்கப்பட்டு கடலில் விடப்பட்டுள்ளது. 
• பிரான்ஸ் பாரிஸ் நகரில் யுனெஸ்கோ அமைப்பின் சார்பில் 2004 முதல் மைக்கேல் பட்டீஸ் என்ற பெயரில் ஆண்டுதோறும் சிறந்த உயிர்கோள காப்பக மேலாண்மைக்கான விருது வழங்கப்படுகிறது. 
• 2023க்கான விருதிற்கு பல்வேறு நாடுகளை சேர்ந்த உயிர்கோள காப்பக அதிகாரிகள் விண்ணப்பித்தனர். இதில் ஜக்தீஷ் சுதாகர் பகான் முதல் இந்தியராக இந்த விருது பெற்றுள்ளார்.
• தாய்லாந்தில் குளோபல் 'வைல்டுலைப்' கருத்தரங்கில் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் சிறந்த சுற்றுச்சூழல் மேம்பாட்டிற்கான விருதும் பெற்றுள்ளார்.
• இத்தாலி நாட்டின் உலக உணவு திட்டம் அமைப்பு இந்தியாவில் பருவநிலை மாற்றத்தினால் பாதிக்கப்படும் 3 மாவட்டங்களில் கிராமங்களை மேம்படுத்த தேர்வு செய்துள்ளது. இதில் தமிழகத்தில் ராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்ட பொறுப்பாளராக ஜக்தீஷ் சுதாகர் பகான் நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

• MICHEL PATTIS (OR) BEST BIOSPHERE RESERVE AWARD 2023: There are 21 islands in the Ramanathapuram and Tuticorin coastal areas in the Gulf of Mannar. 117 species of corals are found. This biosphere reserve is home to rare species of seaweed, seaweeds, conchs, turtles, seahorses and seashells. Mammals such as sea cows and dolphins can be seen. 
• The mangrove swamps have also increased due to the efforts of Jagdish Sudhakarpagan, the keeper of this biosphere reserve. He has grown and improved artificial coral reefs and seaweed in the habitats of sea cows and dolphins. 102 rare species caught in nets have been rescued and released into the sea.
• 12,000 kg of smuggled marine cardboard, sea horses have been seized. 23,500 turtle hatchlings have been reared and released into the sea. Since 2004, the Michel Pattis Award for Best Biosphere Reserve Management has been given annually by UNESCO in Paris, France. Biosphere Reserve officials from various countries applied for the 2023 award. Jagdish Sudhakar Bagan is the first Indian to receive this award.
• He has also received the United Nations Award for Best Environmental Development at the Global 'Wildlife' Conference in Thailand. The World Food Program in Italy has chosen to develop villages in 3 districts affected by climate change in India. Jagdish Sudhakar Bagan has been appointed as the in-charge of Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu.
