Iran sent animals into space
  • Iran, which is trying to send humans into space, has now announced that it has sent a spacecraft with animals into space.
  • Telecommunication Minister Isa Sarepur said that the spacecraft was sent to a distance of 130 kilometers in orbit. It did not specify what animals or how many animals were sent in the 500 kg spacecraft.
  • Iran announced in 2013 that it had successfully sent a monkey into space on a spacecraft. Last September, it announced the successful launch of a data-gathering satellite. Efforts are being made to send humans into space soon.
India to provide Rs 2,084 crore loan to Kenya - Prime Minister Modi announced
  • The President of Kenya, an African country, William Samui Ruto, arrived in India last Monday on a 3-day official visit. He has undertaken this trip with the aim of expanding the overall relations between India and Kenya.
  • Both countries are based on agricultural economy. India will provide a loan of 250 million US dollars (about Rs. 2,084 crores in Indian currency) for modernization of agricultural sector in Kenya.
  • Closer India-Kenya cooperation will inspire common initiatives in the Indo-Pacific region.
  • India and Kenya share the same view that terrorism is the most serious challenge facing humanity. We have decided to enhance cooperation in countering terrorism.
  • New opportunities to reach the full potential of bilateral economic cooperation will continue to be explored. In addition to coordinating the defense manufacturing industry of the two countries, joint military exercises were also discussed.
  • About 80,000 people of Indian origin live in Kenya. Prime Minister Modi said that they consider Kenya as their second home and are the greatest strength of the bilateral relationship.
5 agreements signed between India and Kenya
  • Following the talks between the two leaders, 5 agreements were signed to strengthen cooperation between India and Kenya in the fields of defence, trade, energy, public infrastructure and health, according to a bilateral joint statement.
  • The joint statement said that land will be allocated to Indian companies and organizations in accordance with the country's laws to produce small grains in Kenya, and the Kenyan side expressed gratitude for India's loan assistance.
AICTE has released the accreditation procedure manual for the academic year 2024-2027
  • The AICTE Accreditation Procedure Manual for the academic year 2024-2027 was released by Prof. T.G., President, All India Council for Technical Education, AICTE, at the Press Information Office Conference Hall, Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi. Sitaram, Vice President Dr. Abhay Jher and Member Secretary Prof. Rajeev Kumar released it.
  • Some of the new changes introduced in the accreditation procedures are as follows;
  • Provision for extension of permit up to 3 years for well-performing companies.
  • The upper limit for admission to courses offered by already well-performing institutes has been relaxed. However, institutions must ensure that they have quality infrastructure and qualified faculty before seeking admission.
  • Reduction of paperwork and seamless certification related activities from affiliating universities, state and union territory governments.
  • Undergraduate courses like BCA and management courses like BBA have been brought under AICTE to ensure integrated development in technical and management education.
  • Further clarification is provided on approval process for open and distance education, e-learning etc.
  • AICTE is committed to promote comprehensive, quality, inclusive and accessible technical education in the country to make India a technology hub by 2047.
Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya launched a nationwide public awareness campaign on the practice of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated the nationwide public awareness program organized by the National Board of Medical Sciences Examinations (NBEMS) on CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - CPR) training in New Delhi today (06-12-2023). 
  • Union Ministers of State for Health Prof. SP Singh Bagel and Dr. Bharathi Praveen Pawar also participated.
Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act 2023
  • The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act provides for reservation in certain reservation categories in appointment to state government posts and admission to professional institutions. The Bill provides for reservation in industrial establishments for economically backward sections.
  • The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act-2019 divided the state of Jammu and Kashmir into the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The Bill increases the total number of seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from 83 to 90. 
  • It also reserves seven seats for Scheduled Castes and nine seats for Scheduled Tribes. Union Home Minister Amit Shah tabled these bills in Parliament. Opposition members walked out of the House after these bills were passed.
