• Following his efforts, an organization was created by resolution 57(I) of the United Nations General Assembly on 11 December 1946.
• The organization was named United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and Rajchman was selected as its first chairman. From a temporary emergency relief agency in 1946, the agency became a permanent UN Organization in 1953 and began working for children’s welfare.
