• The day also raises awareness about energy efficiency and encourages the attempt of industries in reducing energy consumption.
• It also aims to gather everyone’s attention on significant energy-related issues such as environmental concerns, scarcity of energy resources, etc facing the future of mankind. With the same view in mind, National Energy Conservation Day 2023 will be observed on December 14, 2023.

History of the National Energy Conservation Day

• NATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION DAY 2023: Under the power ministry of India, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) also launched the National Energy Conservation Day along with the National Energy Conservation Awards in 1991 to recognize the contribution of industries and establishments in reducing energy consumption while maintaining their production. 
• The first National Energy Conservation Day was thus observed on December 14, 1991, and the first National Energy Conservation Award was awarded on this occasion. The reason for observing this day was also to make people aware of global warming and climate change and promote efforts toward saving energy resources.
