Indian whiskey chosen as world's best whisky
  • The world's largest whiskey tasting competition is held every year. As such, this year's competition saw 100 whiskeys from around the world up for tasting. Among them, the Diwali Collection Edition 2023 of Indian brand Indri Whiskey won the 'Double Gold Best in Show' award.
  • Whiskeys participating in the Whiskeys of the World Awards compete in several rounds. Their taste is tested at every stage and in different varieties. An expert panel of senior tasters from the Alco-Bev industry announces the best whiskey at each stage and finally, the world's best whiskey is chosen.
  • Indri Whiskey, an Indian peat class whisky, has beaten hundreds of international brands such as American single malt, Scotch whisky, Bourbons, Canadian whisky, Australian single malt and British single malt. Peated whiskey is whiskey that is given a smoky flavor by the compounds released by the charcoal fire used to dry malt barley.
  • Indri's single malt trinity has previously won awards including the Tokyo Whiskey and Spirits Competition 2023 and the Fifty Best World Whiskeys 2022 award, an international whiskey competition in Las Vegas. Also, Indri's Single Malt Trini features in the Top 20 Whiskeys of the World list.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for projects worth around Rs.8000 crore in Nizamabad, Telangana and dedicated the completed projects to the country
  • Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone and dedicated the completed works to the country. These include rail projects including an 800 MW unit of the first phase of the National Thermal Power Corporation's Telangana Super Thermal Power Project, a new railway line connecting Manogarabad and Siddipet. Electrification project between Dharamabad - Manogarabad and Mahabhupnagar - Kurnool. 
  • He laid the foundation stone of 20 emergency units across the state under the Prime Minister's- Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Initiative. Prime Minister Mr. Modi also flagged off the Sithipat - Secunderabad - Sithipat train service.
The Prime Minister laid foundation stones for various development projects worth around Rs 27,000 crore in Bastar, Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh
  • Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated the completed projects to the country.
  • These include the dedication of a steel plant of NMTC Steel Company worth over Rs 23,800 crore at Nagarnar in Bastar district and several railway and road projects. He also flagged off the Darogi-Raipur electric train service.
Sampriti 2023 joint military exercise
  • The 11th annual India-Bangladesh joint military exercise Samprithi 2023 began on October 03 at Umroi in Meghalaya. Organized by the two countries on a rotational basis, the exercise essentially signifies stronger bilateral defense cooperation efforts. The exercise, which started in 2009 in Jorhat, Assam, has had ten successful exercises till 2022.
  • Sampridhi-XI, scheduled for 14 days, will involve around 350 players from both sides. The exercise highlights the importance of enhancing interoperability between the two militaries, sharing training strategies and promoting best practices.
  • 170 soldiers have been included in the Bangladesh team under the command of Brigadier General Mohammad Mafisul Islam Rashid, Commander of 52 Bangladesh Army Brigade. The Indian Army unit mainly consists of soldiers from the Rajput Regiment Battalion. 
  • Mountain Brigade Commander Brigadier SK Anand leads the Indian force. Soldiers from various branches like artillery, engineers and services from both sides are participating in the exercise.

India's growth in the current financial year will be 6.3 percent - World Bank forecast
  • The World Bank has released a report on the economic growth of South Asian countries in the current financial year 2023-24.
  • In this, it has been mentioned that India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will be 6.3 percent in the current financial year. India's GDP, which registered a growth of 7.2 percent in the last financial year 2022-23, was also mentioned in the World Bank report published last April, which will be 6.3 percent in 2024.
  • The World Bank has noted that India will be one of the fastest growing economies in the world despite slowing growth due to slowing global growth and rising domestic prices.
  • Apart from that, it has been reported that the price of food items will gradually decrease and due to the actions of the Union Government, the supply of food items will increase.
  • Also in the World Bank report, the agriculture sector is expected to grow by 3.5 percent, industry by 5.7 percent, services by 7.4 percent, and investment growth by 8.9 percent.
