First joint naval exercise between EU and India
  • India, European Union ships engaged in joint naval exercises in the Gulf of Guinea. This was done in an effort to strengthen maritime security cooperation in the region.
  • The European Union and India conducted their first joint naval exercise in the Gulf of Guinea on October 24. The exercise followed the third meeting of the EU-India Maritime Security Dialogue on 5 October 2023 in Brussels.
  • During the exercise, the Indian Navy's coastal patrol ship INS Sumeda joined three European Union ships in the Gulf of Guinea: Italian Navy Ship IDS Foscari, French Navy Ship FS Ventos and Spanish Navy Ship Tornado, all four in Ghana. Conducted continuous training in international waters off the coast.
  • This includes onboard training, flying training using helicopters aboard French ship Ventos and Indian Navy ship Sumeda, and transfer of personnel between ships. These actions indicate the shared commitment of India and the EU to support coastal states and Yaoundé maritime security in ensuring maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth Rs 7500 crore in Shirdi, Maharashtra and dedicated the completed projects to the country
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated various development projects worth about Rs.7500 crore in the sectors of health, rail, road, oil and gas in Ahmednagar, Shirdi, Maharashtra. Various development projects include AYUSH Hospital at Ahmednagar Civil Hospital, electrification of Gurdwara-Latur road rail section (186 km), 3rd and 4th railway lines connecting Jalgaon to Poosawal (24.46 km); Four-laning of National Highway 166 from Sangli to Borgaon (Group-1); and additional facilities at Indian Oil Corporation's Manmat terminal. He laid the foundation stone for Maternal and Child Health Unit at Ahmednagar Government Hospital. Mr. Modi also distributed Ayushman cards and Swamitwa cards to the beneficiaries.
  • Mr. Modi inaugurated a new row complex for darshan at Shirdi, dedicating the left bank (85 km) canal structure of the Nilwande Dam to the nation. He also launched a financial support scheme for farmers to benefit more than 86 lakh farmers.
  • Earlier, PM Modi performed pooja and darshan at Shirdi Saibaba Samadhi Temple and also performed water pooja of Nilwande dam.
Narendra Modi inaugurated the 37th National Games
  • The 37th National Games began in Goa. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the opening ceremony at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa and formally inaugurated the tournament. 
  • Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha and others participated in the event. Spectacular performances were held earlier in the opening ceremony. Teams of 28 states and 8 union territories participated in the competition.
  • A player passed the torch to Indian hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh and surfer Katya Coelho while flying in a giant balloon. They passed the torch to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was present on the dais as they crawled across the grounds. 
  • On receiving it, he announced that the competition would begin formally. More than 10,000 sportsmen and women are participating in these competitions which will be held till November 9.
