19th Asian Games - Day 5
  • The 19th Asian Games are being held in Hangzhou, China. First was the final of the men's 50m rifle team event. The Indian team consisting of Aishwari Pratap Singh, Swapnil Kusale and Ahil Sheron stood first by accumulating 1769 points. Also shot gold from yesterday, the 7th day of the competition.   • In the squash women's group event, India's Anhatsingh, Tanvi Khanna, Josna Chinnappa and Deepika Balikal won bronze after missing out on the Hong Kong women's team in the women's semi-finals.
Discovery of flint vase in Vembakotta phase 2 excavation
  • Excavation is going on in Uchhimedu area along Vembakkottai reservoir. In the second phase of excavation here, which started on April 6, 18 pits have been excavated so far and 4,184 objects including conches, bangles, gold ornaments, smoker, limed flint pots and silhouettes have been found. In this case, the flint vase was found on Thursday.
  • The archeology department said that looking at the objects found so far, there are signs of industries in this area. She further informed that the second phase of excavation work will be completed by the end of this month and all the objects found will be documented and exhibited in this area.
NLC India Limited signs 800 MW Power Purchase Agreement with Gridco Limited
  • NLC India Limited (NLCIL) under the Ministry of Coal and Gridco Limited in Bhubaneswar signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
  • The agreement was signed to power 400 MW in Phase-I and 400 MW in Phase-II of NLC India Limited's proposed Neyveli Dalapira Super Power Critical Thermal.
  • Through this agreement, NLC India Limited has incorporated its full capacity 2400 MW Neyveli Dalapira Supercritical Thermal Power Station Stage-I.
  • NLC India Limited Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) M. The Power Purchase Agreement was signed in the presence of Prasanna Kumar Modupalli and Trilochan Panda, Managing Director, Gridco Ltd. and Shri Kagan Bihari Swain, Director (F&CA), Gridco Ltd.
Chand Kumar elected PTI President
