Ministry of Defense approves purchase of 12 state-of-the-art Sukhoi fighter jets
- The Indian Defense Forces is one of the largest armies in the world. The central government is continuously taking several steps to further strengthen the security forces. It is continuously purchasing new weapons.
- Accordingly, the Ministry of Defense has now approved nine procurement projects worth around ₹45,000 crore. Accordingly, the purchase of 12 Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jets manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has been approved. Also, permission has been given for aircraft and related ground projects worth Rs 11,000 crore.
- 1984 IRS cadre Sanjay Kumar Mishra has been serving as Director of Enforcement since 2018. Several petitions were filed in the Supreme Court against the extension of his tenure.
- The Supreme Court heard the petitions and ruled that the action was illegal. Subsequently, it was announced that his tenure will end today (September 15). In this situation, the central government has appointed Rahul Naveen as the new director as the temporary director.
