Tamil Nadu Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Unit - Chief Minister inaugurated and released the slogan
- In the grant request of the Forest Department for the year 2021-22, it was announced that a Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Unit would be set up to detect and prevent scheduled wildlife crime at the state level.
- Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Unit was established at the Panagal House in Saidapet, Chennai. Tamil Nadu Forest and Wildlife Crime Control Unit was launched by Chief Minister M.K.Stalin.
- Specially established to prevent organized wildlife and wildlife crime, this unit works with the main objectives of gathering information and intelligence on wildlife crime, preventing illegal trade in wildlife and wildlife products, and working in coordination with global organizations.
- The World University Games (WUG) were held in Chengdu, China. In this case, the closing ceremony of the competition was held yesterday. Participating in this event, India bagged a total of 26 medals and placed 7th in the medal list. This includes 11 gold, 5 silver and 10 bronze medals. Earlier, India had won only 21 medals.
- Host China won 178 medals (103 gold, 40 silver, 35 bronze) to take first place. Japan finished second with 21 gold, 29 silver, and 43 bronze medals, while Korea finished third with 17 gold, 18 silver, and 23 bronze medals.
- Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Piyush Goyal, attended the 13th BRICS Trade Ministers' Meeting held yesterday (07-08-2023) under the BRICS leadership of South Africa through video. The theme of this year's BRICS organization is "BRICS and Africa: Joint Action for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Diversity".
- Mr. Piyush Goyal addressed the meeting on issues related to the World Trade Organization, supply chain, digitization, micro, small and medium enterprises. Mr. Piyush Goyal emphasized the need to build trust in each other and he expressed strong confidence regarding the reform measures of the World Trade Organization.
- The minister briefed the BRICS member states about India's efforts in combating the challenges related to climate change. The Minister sought cooperation in the decisions of the G20 Trade and Investment Working Group under the leadership of India.
