Delhi Administrative Bill passed in Rajya Sabha
- The Lieutenant Governor himself ordered the appointment of civil service officers in Delhi, and the central government brought the Delhi High Officers Appointment Ordinance. When the bill was tabled in the Lok Sabha last week, opposition parties staged a walkout.
- Subsequently, the Delhi Administration Bill was passed by voice vote. Union Home Minister Amit Shah tabled this bill yesterday. Speaking then, he said that this bill was brought with the aim of providing corruption free administration in Delhi.
- Members of the opposition party who participated in the debate on the bill expressed strong opposition to the bill. The bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha with 131 votes in favor and 102 votes against the Delhi Administration Amendment Bill. Subsequently, it will be sent for the President's approval.
- Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal and Andhra Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress parties supported the Delhi Emergency Bill. It is noteworthy that this bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha after about 8 hours of debate despite the strong opposition of the opposition parties.
- On behalf of the Central Department of Archaeology, Chennai Circle, the second phase of excavation work was started in Kanchipuram District, North Pattali, in May.
- Under the leadership of Archaeological Superintendent Kalimuthu, six excavation pits have been excavated. In it, 800 artifacts have been found. In particular, glass beads, fragments of glass bangles, flints, iron and copper items, among others, have been found. Among these, a pottery with Tamil writing is considered to be the main artefact.
