Prime Minister's Address at the B20 India 2023 Summit

• Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi addressed the P20 Summit India 2023 in New Delhi today. P20 Summit India brings together policy makers, business leaders and experts from around the world to discuss the P20 India report. The P20 India report includes 54 recommendations and 172 policy actions for submission to the G20.
• Business20 (P20) is the official G20 dialogue forum with the global business community. Established in 2010, the P20 is one of the most important engagement groups of the G20, with companies and business organizations as participants. P20 works to provide concrete actionable policy recommendations to stimulate economic growth and development.
• The conference was held for three days from August 25 to 27. Its theme is RAISE – Responsible, Accelerated, Innovative, Sustainable and Equitable Businesses. More than 1,500 delegates from 55 countries have participated in this.

Lunar surface temperature probe by Chandrayaan-3 lander

• The Vikram lander-mounted instrument ChaSTE has measured the temperature on the lunar surface and recorded the first data.
• The ChaSTE instrument has detected the temperature of the sand surface at the south pole of the Moon. The instrument is capable of measuring up to about 10 centimeters at the moon's south pole and is equipped with about 10 sensors to detect individual temperatures.
• ISRO has released the temperature data detected by ChaSTE as first level information. Accordingly, ISRO has released data that -10 degrees Celsius has been recorded at 8 cm and temperatures up to 50 degrees at 1 cm.
• ISRO said this is the first data on the temperature of the south pole of the moon and further detailed study is underway. The ChaSTE instrument was developed by the Space Physics Laboratory team at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Research Center in collaboration with the Physical Research Laboratory, ISRO said.

19th World Athletics Championships - Neeraj Chopra wins gold

• The 19th World Athletics Championship was held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. On the last day, Indian player Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the men's javelin throw with a distance of 88.17 meters. Athlete Neeraj Chopra has made history by becoming the first Indian to win gold at the World Athletics Championships.
• This was followed by the women's 3000m steeplechase race. He covered the race distance in 9.15 minutes 31 seconds and finished 11th. Although he finished 11th, it was not only a new national record but also covered the distance in 9.23 minutes, the required time to qualify for next year's Paris Olympics. India finished 5th in men's 4*400 relay.

Bright Star-23 exercise

• A contingent of the Indian Air Force (IAF) today departed to participate in the biennial multi-trilateral exercise BRIDE STAR-23, scheduled to be held from August 27 to September 16, 2023 at Cairo (West) Air Base, Egypt.
• This is the first time that the Indian Air Force is participating in the Bright Star-23 exercise, in which squadrons from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Greece and Qatar are participating. The Indian Air Force will have five MiG-29s, two IL-78s, two C-130s and two C-17s. Soldiers from the Garuda Special Forces of the Indian Air Force, and personnel from No. 28, 77, 78 and 81 Squadrons will participate in the exercise. The Indian Air Force aircraft will also carry around 150 soldiers from the Indian Army.
• The purpose of this exercise is to practice planning and execution of joint activities. Apart from leading to the formation of bonds across borders, such interactions also provide a means to enhance strategic relations between participating countries.
