Expansion of breakfast program across Tamil Nadu
- Chief Minister M.K.Stalin yesterday launched the breakfast expansion program at Panchayat Union Middle School, where former Chief Minister Karunanidhi studied in Tirukuweli, Nagai District. He served food to the students and sat and ate with them. He conversed with them.
- In the Tamil Nadu Assembly, on April 21 this year, the 'Tamil Nadu Land Consolidation Special Schemes Act - 2023' was passed. Water bodies, rivers, streams, etc., if they expand their area and change their course due to natural phenomena, they should be protected.
- To legally regulate this land transfer system and to protect the water status, this law provides a way to implement a commercial, industrial project in an area of not less than 247 acres of water bodies, one can apply to the government for special permission for that project.
- If the government is satisfied, any project can be declared as a special project. Various farmers' associations opposed this law. Governor Ravi has now approved the bill. The Act has been published in the Tamil Nadu Gazette.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on an official visit to Greece, was awarded the country's highest award, 'The Grand Cross of the Order of Honour'. Prime Minister Modi was presented with the award at a function held at the Greek Chancellor's House on Friday.
- Prime Minister Modi said that on behalf of the people of India, he would like to thank President Katharina for giving the award. It has been informed on behalf of the central government that this award has been given to Prime Minister Modi for his tireless work to promote India's value internationally, for the country's economic development and environmental protection.
- It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi has received high awards from many countries including Egypt, America, Bahrain, Russia, United Arab Emirates and France.
- President Mrs. Draupadi Murmu today (25.08.2023) released a postage stamp in honor of former president of Brahma Kumaris, Dadi Prakashmani, at the Cultural Center at the President's House. The stamp has been issued under the 'My Stamp' scheme of the Department of Posts under the Union Ministry of Telecommunication to mark the 16th birth anniversary of Dathi Prakashmani.
- Ministry of Defense has today (25-08-2023) signed an MoU with Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL). The agreement was signed for the purchase of five Fleet Support Ships (FSS) for the Indian Navy. The total value of this contract is Rs. 19,000 crores.
- As these vessels will be designed and built indigenously by HSL in Visakhapatnam, this will be a major boost to achieving the goal of self-reliance in defense manufacturing. The Cabinet Committee on Defense approved the purchase of these vessels in its meeting held on 26-08-2023.
- These support ships known as FSS will be used to transport and supply fuel, water and ammunition to naval warships at sea. This will enable the Indian Navy to operate at sea for extended periods of time without coming to port.
- These support ships will enhance the operational capabilities of the fleet. Incorporating these ships into the fleet will significantly increase the capability of the Indian Navy. These ships can be used to evacuate people during natural calamities and for aid and disaster relief (HADR) operations.
