Asian Kabaddi Championship Series 2023 for Men
- The men's Asian Kabaddi Championship series was held in Busan, Korea. 6 teams namely India, Korea, Japan, Iran, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong have participated in this. The Indian team defeated all 5 teams in the league round namely Korea, Japan, Iran, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong.
- In this case, the final was held. In this, the Indian team faced Iran. In this thrilling match, the Indian team won the championship for the 8th time with a score of 42-32. Captain Pawan Sherawat scored the maximum 10 points for the Indian team.
- The Asian Mixed Doubles Squash Championship Series was held in Huangzhou, China. In the final, India's Deepika Pallikal and Harinder Palsingh played against the 2nd ranked pair of Malaysia's Arnolda and Ivan Yuen.
- In this, Deepika Pallikal and Harinder Balsingh won the title of champion by winning in straight sets with the score of 11-10, 11-8. It is noteworthy that both Deepika Pallikal and Harinder Balsingh, who won the champion title, are from Tamil Nadu.
- India's javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the men's javelin event with a throw of 87.66 meters to win the Lausanne leg of the prestigious Diamond League. Germany's Julian Weber finished second with a throw of 87.03m and Czech Republic's Jakub Watlej third with a throw of 86.13m.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved disbursement of Rs 6,194.40 crore to 19 states under the State Disaster Relief Fund. Out of the sanctioned amount, 15 states namely Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Odisha, Maharashtra, Punjab, North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura will receive Rs 4,984.80 crore as funds for the year 2023-24.
- 1,209.60 crore rupees for the year 2022-23 for the northeastern states of Meghalaya and Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. This fund will help the states to carry out relief activities during the current monsoon season.
- The Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already approved Rs 3,649.40 crore as central government's share of state relief funds to nine states during 2023-24.
- In an event held in New Delhi, 260 districts across India participated in the competition conducted by the Food Safety and Standards Commission of India on various aspects including licensing of food businesses, issuance of registration certificate and food sampling and monitoring.
- Out of the 31 districts selected as winners, 13 districts in Tamil Nadu namely Coimbatore, Dindigul, Madurai, Perambalur, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Salem, Tiruvallur, Tirupur, Sivagangai, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Vellore have received awards for best performance.
- It is noteworthy that in this competition, Coimbatore district has stood first in India. Also, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has conducted a quality assessment based on five indicators of data on human resources and institutions in the food safety sector, adherence to standards norms, food inspection framework and monitoring, training and capacity building, and consumer empowerment, and the state for the year 2022-2023. Tamil Nadu has been selected as the third state in India in the process of food safety index and has been awarded for it.
- Meanwhile, Minister M. Subramanian congratulated Chief Minister M.K.Stalin by presenting the award given to 13 districts of Tamil Nadu in the 'Eat Right Challenge' competition and the award given to Tamil Nadu as the third state in India in the process of State Food Safety Index.
- The Union Ministry of Defense on June 30, 2023 signed an agreement with Masakan Shipbuilding in Mumbai for the refit certificate of INS Shankush submarine. Its total value is Rs 2,275 crore.
- Shankush, an SSK-class submarine, will undergo a refit at Masakan Shipyard. The redesigned submarine will be handed over to the Army in 2026. Following this, INS Shankush will be inducted into the Indian Navy.
- 30 micro, small and medium entrepreneurs will be given opportunity and employment will be created in this project. This project will be considered as a major step towards achieving the central government's goal of a self-reliant India.
