Chief Minister M. K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for the expansion of SOL India's plant at Ranipet Chipgat with an investment of Rs 145 crore
  • Chief Minister M. K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for setting up a state-of-the-art integrated plant for production of liquid medical and industrial oxygen, liquid nitrogen, liquid argon at Ranipet- Chipkot Phase 3.
  • The expansion will increase its production capacity from 80 tonnes per day to 200 tonnes per day. 
DBIIT has announced quality control orders for 'Resin-bonded and polished synthetic wood products', 'Heat-resistant jars, bottles and boxes for household use'
  • The Department of Industry and Domestic Trade Development and the Department of Industry and Commerce have announced 2 new quality control orders for 'Resin-glued and polished synthetic wood products' and 'Heat-resistant jars, bottles and boxes for household use' on July 14, 2023. 
  • These quality control orders will remain in force for six months from the date of notification. These quality control orders will improve the quality situation in India and ensure public health and safety of consumers.
  • In respect of 'resin glued and polished synthetic wood products', certification by the Indian Standards Institution is mandatory for electrical, chemical and utility products manufactured in the domestic market or imported into India.
  • Similarly, in respect of 'Household Heat Resistant Jars, Bottles and Boxes', stainless steel baking jars, bottles and heat resistant boxes for food processing manufactured in the domestic market or imported into India are required to be certified by the Indian Standards Organization.
The Ministry of Culture and the Indian Navy have signed an MoU to "revive the ancient method of tailoring boat building (Thangai Method)"
  • The Ministry of Culture and the Indian Navy have signed an MoU to revive and preserve a boat building technique called '2000 Years Old Boat Building System'. The MoU signing ceremony held on July 18, 2023 was attended by prominent personalities including Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Mr. Govind Mohan.
  • The stitched boat has significant cultural value in India, preserving its historical significance and traditional craftsmanship. Throughout history, India has had a strong, maritime heritage.
Mr. Rakesh Pal appointed as 25th Director General of Indian Coast Guard
  • Mr. Rakesh Pal has been appointed as the 25th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). An alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy, he joined the Indian Coast Guard in January 1989. Dronacharya, Indian Naval School, Cochin has professional expertise in Gunnery & Weapon Systems and Electro-Optics Fire Control Solution course in UK.
  • He has 34 years of experience as Commander Coast Guard Zone (North West), Gandhinagar, Deputy Director General (Policy and Programmes) and Additional Director General Coast Guard at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi. 
  • Apart from this, he has held various prestigious staff positions such as Director (Infrastructure and Works) and Principal Director (Administration) at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi. He has served in command of ICGS Samarth, ICGS Vijith, ICGS Susheda Kripalani, ICGS Agalyabai and ICGS C-03.
