Prime Minister inaugurated the new integrated terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport at Port Blair
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the new integrated terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport at Port Blair today through a video presentation. Rs. Built at a cost of 710 crores, the new terminal building has the capacity to handle around 50 lakh passengers per annum.
- The new terminal is spread over 40,800 square meters and has the capacity to handle 50 lakh passengers per annum. At an estimated cost of Rs.80 crore, a runway is being constructed at the Port Blair airport for the landing and take-off of 2 Boeing aircraft and 2 Airbus aircraft. And this airport can land 10 flights at a time.
- Inspired by nature, the airport terminal is designed in the shape of an oyster to depict the sea and islands. A double-layered roof has been installed to reduce heat and provide sunlight to reduce the use of electricity during the day.
- In addition, LED lighting, heat-resistant glass, a large underground water tank to collect rainwater, a 100% wastewater treatment and reuse plant at the airport, a 500 KW solar power plant, and environmental and climate change mitigation. A number of durable and sustainable features such as bulk reduction structures have been installed in this new airport.
- Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies - Sahara Refund website https://mocrefund.crcs.gov.in/ was launched by Union Home and Cooperatives Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today. This website has been developed for submission of claims by actual depositors of Sahara Group consisting of four Co-operative Societies.
- At Sahara Group, this website has been developed keeping in mind the concerns of those who cannot recover their payments. Those who have lost money by investing in Sahara Group Financial Institutions can access this website through the Ministry of Cooperatives website and submit their applications. Along with this, the required documents should also be uploaded.
- After verification of claims and uploaded documents through Aadhaar card, payment will be made to genuine depositors in their bank account within 45 days, subject to availability of funds.
- A ministerial level meeting on green energy joint ventures between India and the US was held in Delhi today. Indian Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and US Energy Secretary Jennifer Cranholm addressed the meeting.
- The meeting also discussed bilateral green energy initiatives and milestones achieved in the growing bilateral energy cooperation between the two countries. Energy security, green energy innovations, discussions on climate change and employment generation levels were also discussed in detail in this meeting.
- The talks focused on affordable, reliable green energy supply. Since India and the United States are two large democracies and are large and rapidly growing economies, it was decided that the two countries should jointly travel on this issue not only for mutual benefit but also to lead to a global energy transition.
- In this meeting, various aspects such as in which fields green clean energy can be used in future, how to develop skills for this, and collaboration between laboratories were discussed.
