Union Cabinet approves metro rail service from Hooda City Center to Cyber City in Gurugram as a boost to Dwarka Expressway
  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the metro rail service from Hooda City Center to Cyber City in Gurugram as a boost to Dwarka Expressway. There are 27 railway stations on this 28.50 km long route.
  • The total cost of execution of this project will be Rs.5,452 crore. The project is proposed to be completed in 4 years. The cost will be borne by the Central Government and the State Government in the ratio of 50:50. Haryana State Corporation MRTC will implement this scheme.
  • Old Gurugram does not yet have metro rail service. The current project highlights the merger of New Gurugram with Old Gurugram. This line will connect with other railway lines. In the next phase it will lead to the connectivity of Indira Gandhi International Airport. It will also help in economic development in this region.
The Union Cabinet has approved the allocation of 4G/5G spectrum to BSNL
  • Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved the 3rd Restructuring Plan with an allocation of Rs.89,047 crore for BSNL as part of the Restructuring Strategy. This includes allotment of 4G/5G spectrum to BSNL through provision of equity.
  • For this the authorized capital of BSNL has been increased from Rs.1,50,000 crore to Rs.2,10,000 crore. With this renewed funding scheme, BSNL will grow into a sustainable telecommunication service provider aiming to provide connectivity to remote areas of the country.
Union Cabinet approves continuation of Coal and Lignite Exploration Project
  • The Union Cabinet meeting on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the continuation of the Central Program on Coal and Lignite Exploration. The scheme is being implemented from the financial year 2021-22 to the financial year 2025-26 as per the plan of the 15th Finance Commission at a cost of Rs.2,980 crore.
  • Under this scheme, exploration of coal and lignite is carried out in two comprehensive phases: (i) regional exploration promotion and (ii) comprehensive exploration in areas beyond Coal India's corporate boundaries.
  • The approval of the scheme will allocate Rs 1650 crore for promotion of regional exploration and Rs 1330 crore for comprehensive exploration in non-border areas of Coal India Company (CIL). Proposed survey will be carried out under regional survey covering an area of 1300 square kilometers and proposed under comprehensive survey plan covering an area of 650 square kilometers.
  • A survey of coal and brown coal is necessary to prove and evaluate the evidence of coal resources to help prepare a detailed project report for the initiation of coal mines in the country. The geological formation reports produced by this survey will be used to auction new coal mining blocks and then collect the cost from the allottees.
Union Cabinet approves Minimum Support Price for Kharif marketing season 2023-24
  • The Union Cabinet on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Kharif marketing season 2023-24. The central government has increased the minimum support price (MSP) for the kharif marketing season 2023-24.
  • In the Union Budget 2018-19, the minimum support price for the 2023-24 Kharif season has been increased to ensure a fair price for the farmers based on the announcement that the minimum support price should be one and a half times the production price. 
  • 82 percent for bajra, 58 percent for dura, 52 percent for soybean, 51 percent for urag, and other crops that are more available to farmers will get at least 50 percent more than the cost of production.
The 8th Standing Committee meeting of International Solar Energy Federation was held in New Delhi
  • Eighth Standing Committee Meeting of International Solar Association (ISA) was held on 06.06.20223 in New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Union Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy Mr. RK Singh. 
  • The meeting was held both live and through video. France also co-chaired it. Some of the representatives of the Member States attended in person in Delhi. Representatives of some countries participated in the meeting through video.
  • Demonstration projects of Member States, Solar Technology Application Resource Center (STAR-C), arrangements for 6th meeting of Solar Energy Federation etc. were discussed in this meeting.
